First steps as a pro. The Joel Girrbach interview

First steps as a pro. The Joel Girrbach interview

joel1

The future is bright for this young golfer! Joel Girrbach, 21 years old from Switzerland has made impressive progress over the last years. Starting playing golf in 2001, he needed 3 years to come down to a handicap of 20 and another 3 years to reach a handicap of 6! After further 3 years he was at +1 and the latest handicap he had was an unbelievable +4.3.

Now in September he made the step which…

The fittest elder sportsman on earth: Gary Player

The fittest elder sportsman on earth: Gary Player

This video is already some years old but still absolutely interesting to watch. I cannot explain it but I truly admire Gary Player, he’s one of my golfing heroes. Every interview with Gary Player is a good interview—this guy is just too funny and so story-telling all the time. Adorable!

Great man, great attitude, great life time achievement! May you live long and prosper, Mr. Player!

You need a lot of balls to play like I do… The Vice Golf interview

You need a lot of balls to play like I do… The Vice Golf interview

drive_front

Generally players around the world are used to buy brand new golf balls for their private rounds, no matter how good their game is. A fairly costly procedure for the weekend golfers as most of them won’t finish their round with exactly that ball they started with, directly correlated to the number of hazards on the course obviously.

Then someone discovered that scuba divers could be the solution…

California Dream, Crocodile Dundee and Arizona Life—-in Germany!

California Dream, Crocodile Dundee and Arizona Life—in Germany!

Sounds weird? It’s absolutely not. Last week I played 18 holes at Biblis GC in south-west Germany. Next to a public short course, the club offers three sets of nine holes of which I played the first two. Every set features specific characteristics and is named accordingly.

So the A course is called “California Dream” and offers more or less standard golf course attributes, probably pretending a…

Getting ready for Mauritius

Getting ready for Mauritius

The wedding is around the corner and with it the planning for the honeymoon. We’re going to Mauritius and I can’t wait for it! The next two weeks will be absolutely hell in the office—my thoughts always circle around the wedding ceremony, the party and the honeymoon.

Mauritius is the perfect golf destination and I’m very much looking forward to the two weeks with my wife-to-be and obviously to…

Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, Rose Cup

Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, Rose Cup

BwD88hqIYAEOL2I

Golficieny officially campaigns for an inaugural Rose Cup, a new team cup between European and International golf professionals. This new tournament should close the gap between the continents as the golf world already stages the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup but no established competition between Europeans and Internationals.

Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup… Rose Cup! We need a third team golf cup…

A tough round deserves a new handicap!

A tough round deserves a new handicap!

Last week I fortunately made a small step into the right direction, handicap-wise. I played the monthly club championship and somehow managed to withstand the windy and rainy conditions and carded down an 87 in the end.

Something I can work with! Saturday’s 87 which brought me down to HCP 14.8. Some really bad shots in the beginning! http://t.co/XEmUtNQFEQ
